01How much does custom software cost?
It depends on what the software must do and how many systems it connects to, so we do not publish a price list. After the scoping call you get a fixed price for the first release. Hosting and support are quoted as a monthly cost, so you know the full cost before you commit.
02Who owns the code?
You do. We agree ownership in writing before we start. The code sits in a repository in your organisation's name, so you are never tied to us.
03How long until the first release, and will it disrupt our team?
The scope sets out dates for the first release. We build in short cycles and show working software early, so you can steer before the budget is spent. New software runs alongside your current process until your team is ready to switch.
04Where is the software hosted, and who supports it?
Usually in AustinCloud, our private cloud across three Perth data centres, so your data stays in WA. Azure suits some apps better. Either way our engineers monitor it. Support requests go through the same service desk as the rest of your IT.
05Should we use low code or custom code?
Use the smallest option that does the job. Internal forms, lists and approvals often suit the low code tools in Microsoft 365. Customer portals, complex rules and integrations across several systems usually need custom code. We recommend one in the scoping call and explain why.
06We already have an IT person or a developer. Where do you fit?
Alongside them. Your IT person keeps systems running and a developer may know one platform well. We add design, integration, hosting, security and support. Everything is documented so your own team can work on it too.
