Choosing an IT support company is a decision you live with for years, and most IT companies sound the same on their websites. This guide sets out what good IT support looks like in 2026, the questions that separate providers on a first call and a shortlist of seven Perth IT support companies worth talking to.
A note before you read. We are one of the companies on this list. To keep it fair, every provider is described using facts from its own website, checked in September 2026. The others are listed in alphabetical order. We have not scored or ranked anyone, and we have left out anything we could not check. If a provider on this list spots something out of date, we will correct it.
What good IT support looks like in 2026
The basics have not changed: someone answers quickly and fixes the problem. What has changed is how much of a provider’s job is now security, and how much you should expect to see in writing. These are the things worth checking.
- Response targets in writing. Targets for each priority, from a critical outage to a small request, with the covered hours stated.
- Engineers you can reach. How long it takes to reach a person, and where the engineers are based.
- Security included. Monitoring and response outside business hours, multi-factor authentication and protected backups as part of the service, not an extra.
- Independent certification. ISO 27001 for the provider’s own security, and experience with the Essential Eight or SMB1001 if your clients or insurers ask for them.
- Pricing you can follow. What the monthly fee includes per user or per device, and what costs extra.
- Reporting and reviews. Regular reports on tickets and security, and a plan for what comes next.
- The right size of client. A provider whose typical client looks like your business.
Questions to ask on a first call
- What are your response and resolution targets for a critical issue, and are they in the contract?
- Who answers when my staff call, and where are they based?
- Which security tools are included, and who watches the alerts at night?
- Which certifications do you hold, and when was your last audit?
- What does the monthly fee include, and what will cost extra?
- How do you bring on a new client, and what do you need from us?
- What reporting will we get, and how often will we meet?
- Can we speak to a client of a similar size to us?

Speed is published differently by each provider. Some state an average time to answer the phone, others an average response time for tickets, so compare like with like when you ask.
Red flags to watch for
- No response or resolution targets in writing.
- Security sold as an optional extra, with nobody watching alerts after hours.
- A monthly price that cannot be broken down per user or per device.
- Vague answers about who answers the phone and where they are.
- No independent certification of the provider’s own security.
- Pressure to sign before you have seen the inclusions in writing.
How to run your shortlist
- Pick three providers whose stated focus matches your size and industry.
- Send each the same short brief: staff numbers, sites, key systems, what is not working today and what you need from security.
- Ask every provider the first call questions above, and note who answers clearly.
- Compare quotes line by line rather than on the total. Our guide to managed IT services pricing in Australia shows what each line usually costs.
- Speak to at least one client of each provider before you decide.
Where Austin Technology fits
We suit businesses of 10 to 500 staff that want Australian engineers, published response targets and security included in the plan. Smaller teams usually start with our IT support for small business, and larger ones with managed IT services or co-managed IT alongside their own IT staff. Choosing IT support in Perth: questions
How much does IT support cost in Perth?
Support only plans typically cost $90 to $150 per user per month excluding GST, and plans that add security typically cost $130 to $220. Hourly rates for business IT support in Perth usually sit between $150 and $220 excluding GST. See how much managed IT services cost in Australia.
What is the difference between IT support and managed IT services?
IT support usually means fixing problems when your staff ask for help. Managed IT services add the work that stops problems happening: monitoring, patching, security, backups and planning, for a fixed monthly fee.
How quickly should an IT support company respond?
Look for written targets for each priority. For a critical issue that stops your business, a response within about 30 minutes and a resolution target of a few hours is a reasonable standard. Ask whether the targets are in the contract.
Does my IT support company need to be in Perth?
Most support is done remotely, so location matters less than it used to. A Perth team still helps with onsite work, local suppliers and support hours that match AWST rather than the eastern states.
Should my IT provider be ISO 27001 certified?
It is a good sign. ISO 27001 means the provider’s own information security is audited by an independent certification body every year, which matters because your IT provider holds admin access to your systems.
How do we switch IT support companies?
Check the notice period in your current agreement, then plan the handover with the new provider: passwords and admin access, documentation, licences, backups and a cutover date. A good provider runs the move for you and keeps your staff informed.
